Hi All,

Myself, my fiance and our dog are looking to start the process of applying for a skilled visa with a view to hopefully ending up in Perth in the next few years!

We have initially been dealing with Darrell Todd at Thinking Australia and looking at using him as our migration agent - we are meeting with him shortly to discuss as much as we can before handing over any fees and so any feed back anyone can give me about Thinking Australia (good or bad) would be really appreciated! :)

There just seems to be so many agents and I'm not sure how to seperate good from bad except to ask of peoples previous experiences!

Many thanks for your time,

Lisa

I read a thread about TA on another site recently, suffice to say that maybe you should shop around a bit more. Darrell Todd is not a registered agent and I think it would be wise to speak to a couple who are, before parting with any money. Get quotes and a copy of their contracts as well, so that you have something to compare.
Ian Harrop & Associates, Visa-Go Emigration and Visa Bureau all have good reputations so these might be a good place to start.

Hi there and good luck.
We went through an agent and found it to be such a good experience and we would totally recommend it. There are so many visa options out there, you have to make sure you are going for the right one and if you get it wrong (by doing it on your own), you have to start all over again. Loosing time and possibly money.

With regards to agents, all we can say is go with your guy feeling. When we were looking for an agent we contacted a few who were… well all you can say that is nice is they were a joke. A few of them who we phoned said things like as we were not on the skills shortage list, they did not want to bother and one even put the phone down after they said that. Not the kind of people who we were going to give our money too. Others just seemed to be too busy to talk on the phone and give us some of the basic details that we needed until we had paid them some money over. Things like that told us that not a cat in hells chance would we go with them.

The only agent that we got a good gut feeling with is the only that we went with and we are more than happy with her service. She gave us the time of day before we paid anything and all the way through the process she gave us all the information that we needed and nothing was too much bother. Just the way she was when we first contacted her.

When you go for your meeting ask as many questions as you need to to put your mind at rest. At the end of the day this is a big move for you all and you need to be sure that you are doing the right thing and asking all the questions that come into your head will help. If you feel you are being rushed and they do not want to give you the time of day, possibly check out others. Go with your gut feeling at the end of the day and we wish you all the best.

Thank you for all your advice - much appreciated. I have now contacted Go Matilda for a quote and info as well as I have heard good things about them - I will also try the others mentioned on here.

Does anyone know what the demand for motor mechanics is like in Perth? That is my o/h trde and we have heard mixed opinions.....

Many thanks again!

Lisa

Hi , shouldn't have too much trouble getting a job but a lot of mechanics that come over from england tend to change their career path when they are over here . I got out of the trade for about a year but got back into it working for myself as a mobile mechanic , working out fine for me
Good luck
Tony
