We're going back to UK - what's the best way to take money?

Hi everyone, we're going back to the UK in April for our son's wedding. We think we'll need about 4,000GBP for the 5 weeks we're there.

Can anyone advise which is the best way to convert dollars to pounds. Some people have suggested buying the cash here and just being very careful. This is our first trip back so and tips would be appreciated.

Thanks, I'm keen to get the best exchange rate. I've been looking at Travelex cards which seem a safe way to take large amounts of money, plus the exchange rate is locked in when you buy it

I'll check out our bank (Bankwest) to see if they can compete.

foreign exchange your dollars to your sons bank account then withdraw it once in UK. You can probably get a couple of pence better to the pound which would amount to some 150-200 GBP more than the travel exchange rates.

currency solutions is the company i use, theres also moneycorp. just google them.
